Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC)

Circulating Tumor cells (CTCs) are cancer cells that shed from a primary tumor, enter circulation and, like blood cells, can travel to other parts of the body.

When CTCs (the “seed”) arrive in the preferential microenvironment of organs (the “soil”), this fertile soil is conducive to the survival and outgrowth of a metastatic seed.

The presence of CTCs in a healthy population is rarely found. Once CTCs are detected, it should be suspected that there may be epithelial cancer cells. It is recommended to do further related examinations to detect cancer early.

The advantages of CTC test

  • Less invasive and very safe

  • Simple: only need 8 mL blood

  • Non-radiation exposure

  • Always accessible by allowing multiple real-time and via post-analysis

Applicable objects

  • Those with a personal or family history of cancer.

  • Those with a high risk of cancer: a high level of tumor makers or the value is in the gray area, heavy smoking, or hepatitis B or C, etc.
