Double Filtration Plasmapheresis (DFPP)
Double Filtration Plasmapheresis (DFPP) is a blood purification process to get rid of pathogenic substances (viruses, auto-antibodies, immune complex, cholesterol, etc.) from our body by using specific filters for specific diseases. The DFPP is really simple. Blood is obtained from appropriate brachial, jugular or femoral veins. The DFPP system includes 2 filters. The blood from selective vains passes through the first filter called “Plasma separator” which is used to separate cellular components consisted of white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets from the plasma. The plasma without the cellular components will pass through the second filter Called “Plasma component separator” where the macromolecular are selectively removed and discarded. This filter includes several special membrane that can specifically be chosen for patient with different disorder. (example : some kind of membrane to filter viruses, auto-antibodies, immune complex cholesterol, etc.) After filtering harmful components from the plasma, non-viscous and clean plasma is returned together with the separated cellular components to the patient’s blood circulation. Hence, Double Filtration Plasmapheresis (DFPP) is the solution to treat the chronic diseases.
